Popular OAP, Stephanie Coker cries out over the loss she suffers because of her accent.
The award-winning OAP went on a rant after trolls came mocking her for her strong British accent. Stephanie relocated from the UK to Nigeria eight years ago and has constantly been mocked for the ways she speaks.
Tired of being told that she fakes the accent, the former MTV Base presenter took to her Instagram story to write,
“8 years later and this is still a topic. For the last time, I spent my entire life in the UK before moving to Nigeria, hence the British accent. It is not rocket science now. Stop with that fake accent sh*t it’s boring now. How hard is it to understand that Nigerians can have other accents? Miss me with the privilege talk, I have missed out on a lot of work because of my accent. There are advantages and disadvantages to everything”
The mother of one wrote this in response to Nigerians who are fond of mocking her accent and accusing her of using it to land gigs that she may not have been the most qualified for.
