The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has banned unvaccinated corp members from its camp nationwide.
The NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General Shuaibu Ibrahim, made this announcement while addressing the “2021 Batch ‘C’ Stream 2” corp members and camp officials.
He said prospective corps members will now be mandated to show evidence of vaccination from Coronavirus before they are allowed into the camp.
Ibrahim said they are working to curb the spread of the disease after the country detected a new variant in the country.
NYSC Cancels 2 Weeks Break After Camp
The Director-General noted that this new policy would take effect at the next orientation camp in a few weeks.
General Ibrahim also warned the corp members that the usual two-week break after leaving orientation camp is cancelled.
He advised corps members to add value by picking up skills that will make them dependent and business owners instead of joining the already filled unemployment market.
The NYSC DG also advised the PCM to cut short any journey beyond 6 pm.
“We have NYSC Corps Lodges, Secretariats and Army barracks; find out where they are and make sure you pass the night there for journeys that will take you beyond six to get to your destination,” he noted.
