Workers under the aegis of Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas, NUPENG and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association, PENGASSAN have threatened to shut down all oil operations by Sunday, August 16.
The workers announced that they would act if the Federal Government failed to pay their salaries on Friday, August 14.
The Vice Chairman, Warri Zonal Council of PENGASSAN, Prince Audu Oshiokhamele issued the warning at the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun.
Earlier, in a notice signed by its General Secretary, Lumumba Okugbawa, PENGASSAN urged the Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chris Ngige to exclude its members in agencies from the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, IPPIS.
The agencies which PENGASSAN wants to be excluded from the IPPIS include the Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR and the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA.
Others are the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority, the Petroleum Training Institute, and the Petroleum Equalisation Fund.
It argued that NNPC and DPR also operated the same closed pension scheme which implied that they had common assets and liabilities.
According to the union, the cooperatives had certain financial obligations to fulfill which would be impossible once the department migrates to the IPPIS.
