NUJ Worries After NTA Manager Tests Positive For Coronavirus

The Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ has expressed grave concern after one of its members was confirmed to be positive for Coronavirus, as the pandemic keeps spreading from person to person across Nigeria.

The Katsina State Chapter of the body in a press statement signed by its Chairman, Tukur Dan-Ali regretted that the General Manager of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, Ayinde Suaga is now a victim of the deadly virus.

Dan-Ali said it is painful when how journalists who work under dangerous situations to enlighten and educate the public become a victim of circumstances.

“ The NUJ hereby sympathise with Mr Ayinde, his Family, the NTA Chapel of NUJ as well as the entire Journalists in the State over this unfortunate incident.

“We hereby remind our members in Katsina State to be cautious and continue to take all precautionary measures during coverage of events and while delivering their services everywhere as Journalists.

“This, of course, indicated the fact that Journalists are, exposed to danger in this hard period of rampage spread of COVID 19 pandemic everywhere in Nigeria, particularly in most affected States, including Katsina.

“The, NUJ strongly believed that Alh. Ayinde Suaga contracted the Coronavirus as a result of his day to day service as Journalist and leader of NTA Katsina.

The Katsina State NUJ, however, wished Suaga a quick recovery while calling for more protection for people providing essential services during the pandemic.
