In addition to the 13,311 operational officers deployed for the governorship elections in Edo, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has deployed an additional 1, 998 personnel to the state.
According to a statement issued by Ekunola Gbenga, the media assistant to the NSCDC Commandant General, Abdullahi Muhammadu, the personnel were deployed on Friday.
Everyevery.ng gathered that the 1,998 additional personnel was deployed to Edo State from other state commands of the federation.
Ekunola noted that the Commandant urged the deployed personnel to resist any financial inducement while discharging their duties to ensure free and credible elections.
He said the corps would not hesitate to sanction erring officers during the election adding that the Deputy Commandant General in charge of operations, Hillary Kelechi Madu, leads the Civil Defence team to provide security during the Edo governorship polls.
Ekunola further revealed that all the riverine areas of the state have been covered with marine men patrolling with their boats. to ensure a free, fair, and credible election in Edo.
