NPFL Player Tiyamiyu Kazeem Killed by (SARS)

Nigeria Professional Football League(NPFL) Tiyamiyu Kazeem, who was a Remo Stars professional player, was pushed by the officer before he was knocked down by an oncoming vehicle. The said player was on his way from training with a fellow teammate Sanni Abubakar. The two players were together before the incident happened.

Both Kazeem and Sanni Abubakar were together on Friday in Kazeem’s car when the SARS operatives approached them. They were mistaken to be internet fraudsters (Yahoo Boys), but they showed their ID cards, but the officers insisted on taking them to the nearest police station.

The SARS officers were driving towards the Sagamu-Abeokuta Expressway, and then the guys questioned to know where they were taking them to. The innocent question was asked the diseases Kazeem and demanded they should stop the moving car.

As he kept telling them to stop the car, one of the SARS officers pushed him out of the car immediately, the car stopped. Unknown to them, there was an oncoming vehicle from the, and before he could get himself, the car had already hit him (Kazeem Tiyamiyu). The young player was immediately rushed to the nearest hospital, which is Fakoya Hospital in Sagamu, but upon his arrival, he was confirmed already dead.

The spokesperson of the police command, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, however, has another story to tell. He said Kazeem knocked down by a hit-and-run driver while trying to escape after been arrested. He further narrated that the deceased was arrested for wearing a military cap, and it was not that he was miskenned for a Yahoo boy.

Oyeyemi further said it was not SARS that arrested him but an inspector attached to the Zonal Intervention Squad (ZIS), Obada. According to him, he said, somebody gave the policeman information that the deceased always wears military wears to oppress people. He was mistaken for the boy wearing a military cap and was arrested. He was in the officer’s car when his car developed a fault, and he came down to fix it then the disease jumped out of the vehicle and was knocked down by an oncoming vehicle.

The spokesman, however, said the officer had been arrested and taken to custody at the Owode-Egba division as the investigation continues. The Ogun state Commissioner of Police has ordered the immediate arrest of the officer for his unprofessional act. A full-scale investigation is ongoing as the case is the capable hands of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department.
