NPC Reveals Nigeria’s Population

The Chairman of the National Population Commission, NPC, Nasir Kwarra has pegged Nigeria’s population at 206 million.

This is coming exactly two years after the commission estimated Nigeria’s population at 198 million.

During a Press Conference, Kwarra, said since Nigeria had not been able to hold a census in the last 14 years, it would be difficult to know the estimated number of Nigerians.

Nigeria’s Population

According to him, the NPC projected that as of 2020, the estimated population of Nigeria is 206 million adding that President Muhammadu Buhari had the sole right to announce the next census.

However, he stressed that about 260 local government areas out of the 774 in the country had been fully demarcated.

Kwarra revealed that the 11th phase of the exercise would hold between December 9, 2020, and January 20, 2021.
