No Good News After PENGASSAN, FG Meeting

There is no good news to share after member of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, met with the Federal Government.

According to a statement by PENGASSAN’s President, Felix Osifo, the meeting was inconclusive. Osifo hinted that the association’s strike continues because the federal government is not ready to meet their demands.

One of the major disagreements came from the order that all oil workers should register under the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System, (IPPIS).

On the other hand, PENGASSAN is insisting on payment through the harmonised template of 2015. Osifo maintained that this is the right thing to do.

He added that the 2015 template is being used by the budget office and has been signed into law by President Muhammadu Buhari.

The PENGASSAN president added that the association needs a definite date for the 50 per cent of the 22 moths salary arrears the federal government has agreed to pay.

As the strike action of the oil workers continues, fuel scarcity looms across the country as many have already started panic buying.
