Several weeks after his widely reported arrest by the Nigerian government, Uchechi Okwu-Kanu, the wife of Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed concerns over his husband’s condition.
Okwu lamented that none of Kanu’s members had reached him since he got arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services, DSS. She further expressed concerns that Kanu is beaten and tortured by the security agencies in Kenya and Nigeria.
During an interview with The Sunday Times, Okwu, who spoke for the first time since Kanu’s arrest, said she was extremely devastated, adding that she was scared for his life.
Kanu’s wife noted that the IPOB leader was only calling for a referendum exactly like Scotland did with UK and UK did with the EU. According to Okwu, it is a shame that Britain is not acting to secure their citizens.
In the same vein, a lawyer consulting for the Kanu’s family, Jonathan Cooper, warned that the UK government risked becoming complicit in torture if it did not support Kanu.
Cooper challenged the UK foreign secretary, Dominic Raab, to take the lead by condemning the actions of the Nigerian and Kenyan governments.
EveryEvery.ng had reported that a Nigerian clergyman, Olatobiloba Peters of the Senior Pastor of Divine Mercy Church, has revealed a scary prophecy about Kanu, who was recently arrested and taken to court for trial.
The clergyman, who prophesied that Kanu would die in the Department of State Services’ custody, appealed to everyone to pray against such occurrence.
According to Saharareporters, the cleric revealed that IPOB members declared war on President Muhammadu Buhari and entire Nigeria to avenge his death. However, he advised President Buhari and the DSS to treat Kanu’s matter with care.
