A Federal High Court in Awka, Anambra State, has awarded the sum of N52Million to Nnamdi Kanu’s Lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

During the burial of his elder brother, Ejiofor’s residence was invaded by the men of the Nigerian Armed Forces on December 2, 2019.

Justice Dimgba found the men of the security agents guilty of illegal invasion after violating his fundamental rights and rightly awarded the sum of N50Million against the Police and Army as compensation to Nnamdi Kanu’s lead counsel.

The High Court also awarded an additional N2Million as cost for the actions against the Police and Army to total N52Million.

Ejiofor, after the Judgement, said, “Justice delayed is not always justice denied”, then narrated the ordeal of the event of that day.

He said four persons were killed in his compound, and all the houses within his ancestral home, including his brothers’ house, were burnt down by these security agents.

Speaking on the Judgement, he said, “I instituted a suit to enforce my fundamental rights grossly violated by the said security agents. The Federal High Court in Awka, on Thursday, December 2 2021, delivered a well-considered judgment in my favour.”

He added that though Justice might have been delayed, the court was correct to have ruled in his favour as his rights were grossly infringed.

He said the Judgement would go a long way to bring respite to the pains and trauma he passed through for the past two years due to the experience.
