Nigerians Drag Nollywood Over Lack of Empathy
Nigerians drag Nollywood and its actors after they reportedly ignored the demise of one of their own.
The deceased actor in question is a veteran actor, Benjamin Nwani Okolo, who was said to have passed on at the age of 83 on the 21st of February, 2021, after a brief illness.
The reactions started after a media personality, Chioma Ifemeludike Grace, made a post dragging the entire film industry for neglecting senior actors despite getting premium entertainment from them. Her post read,
“How old veterans die without acknowledgement or recognition from Nollywood is really shocking, like these men were part of us, we shared memories with these elders but once they get sick and die they’re barely remembered or celebrated especially if they were not very popular… is this not hypocrisy???

Until his death, he was once a director at UNTH ENUGU and a very talented actor. Nollywood we can do better!!! RIP sir. May God grant his family the fortitude to bear such a loss”
This prompted other well-meaning Nigerians to join in the dragging as they criticised Nollywood while sending their condolences. Here are some of their reactions below;
In December, the opinionated actress had shared that the envy and disunity in the movie industry will be the end of it, particularly mentioning that female actresses are more in competition with one another than working on their craft.
