Share

Given the lockdown and the sit at home order by the Federal and state Governments, many Nigerians have called on Telecommunication companies in the country to cut data prices.

In a trend on twitter, many were of the opinion that telecommunication companies in the country should look into reducing the pressure on Nigerians during this period.

A twitter user, @DrOlufunmilayo said, the country that gives MTN their highest earnings/profits is Nigeria, even more than their home country South Africa, MTN cut data prices for South Africans. But not for Nigerians, This is unfair, this is inconsiderate. and very insensitive.

Cut Data Prices

Also, @aproko_doctor said, “We don’t want “double data” nonsense. Same thing they do with double credit and increase the call rates, and before you know it’s your credit. It is gone. Simply reduce the cost of dat, show Nigerians that you’re in solidarity with them this trying period. #CutDataPrices

In another tweet, @cliqik, called on electricity distribution companies to wave the electricity bill for the month of April

With the Lockdown of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun state: – Electric bill for the month of April should be waived. – Nigerians in these states should receive a weekly wage – Food items should be made available. – One month free dstv subscription – #CutDataPrices during this period!
