Nigerian rapper, Goldie 1 has bagged 10 years in prison for raping a woman in the UK. Goldie was said to make advances to the woman at a venue in Southend in February 2017.
The 34-year-old said he would get her home safely but instead drove her to a car park where he overpowered her and ignored her requests for him to stop.
Olawale Hassan was found guilty at Basildon Crown Court of three counts of rape and one of sexual assault according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Helen Walsh, senior Crown prosecutor in the rape and serious sexual offences unit for CPS East of England stated, “We were able to present the case that Olawale was a controlling sexual predator who showed a complete disregard for the victim’s lack of consent.
‘’He exploited his opportunity to sexually assault the woman before proceeding to rape her multiple times while she drifted in and out of consciousness in his car.
‘’Consent can be withdrawn at any time and at the discretion of the individuals involved. Just because you consent to dancing does not mean you consent to sex’’.
The Nigerian born rapper was found guilty at Basildon Crown Court of three counts of rape and one of sexual assault and was jailed on Tuesday for 10 years and two months.
