Speaking on the proposed resumption, Chairman of the House Committee on Basic Education and Services, Prof Julius Ihonvbere said members of the House of Representatives were not consulted.

Ihonvbere wondered why government officials were rushing to reopen schools without adequate arrangements to protect and secure school children.

According to the lawmaker, when the infection rates were around 500 and below, schools were closed; but now that it surpassed 1,000 infections daily, schools are being reopened.
