A Nigerian lady has been sentenced to three years in prison to be followed by deportation in Dubai by the Court of First Instance for baiting a Pakistani man into a phoney massage parlour and stealing his money.
The official report states that the woman was part of a gang that robbed the man of Dh40,500.
A WhatsApp message about massage sessions that showed a picture of a Russian woman and address was sent to the 40-year-old victim by the gang.
Although the incident happened in November 2020, when the 27-year-old Nigerian woman pulled him inside the apartment in the Naif area, the court just sentenced the suspect to three years in prison.
The victim narrated his ordeal in the suspects’ hands, stating that three men and three women attacked him, threatened to beat him, and stole his wallet. He went further to say that his chest was scratched when he refused to give them his credit card details.
When he finally gave in and provided his credit card’s passcode, the gang withdrew Dh40,000 (N4m) from his account. They kept him for six hours inside the apartment before allowing him to leave after stealing Dh500 from his wallet.
Dubai Police arrested the Nigerian woman when officers raided the apartment after he reported the incident.
One Emirati policeman said the Nigerian Lady was part of a gang used to lure victims to the apartment before stealing their money.
However, the Dubai Public Prosecution has charged the defendant with robbery and locking the victim inside the apartment.
She was fined Dh28,120.
