Nigerian gay activist, Bisi Alimi, weeks after celebrating his fourth wedding anniversary with his white husband, has opened up about his 16 years old battle with HIV.

The guy who is pushing for gay rights has revealed he has ben living with the dreaded HIV for almost two decades.

In his Instagram post, he said though the first four years of getting to know he has the virus was not easy, he has been able to overcome most of the challenges.

According to him, apart from stressing of having the virus, he suffered stigmatisation, shame and discrimination.

“But I look back at those 16yrs and where I am today and there is no better way to say this; the resilience and support and love of the people that matter has kept me alive, kept loving, and kept me inspired.”

Bisi Alimi is making this shocking revelation as the world celebrate the 2020 edition of World AIDs Day.

He made similar post on Twitter where he shared a picture of him while at the hospital for a routine check.

“This pic is from last year during routine health check for HIV. I was diagnosed with virus 16yrs, been on treatment now for 13yrs. I am undetectable and living the best of my life. Remember, stigma, shame and discrimination kills faster than the virus.”
