Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, in contributing its quota to the collective fight against the spate of insecurity in Zamfara State, has completely shut down telecommunication operations sites across the region.
The Commission revealed this piece of information in a statement issued on Friday night, signed by NCC’s Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Prof. Umar Danbatta, in Abuja.
Dambatta hinted that the shutdown would be operational for at least two weeks, counting from September 3rd to 17th.
NCC Boss noted that the pervading security situation in Zamfara State had necessitated an immediate shut down of all telecommunications services in order to hinder the conflict seeking bandits from networking.
In the statement, the Commission stressed that the shutdown is also to allow relevant security outfits to conduct the required exercises toward Combatting the security challenges in Zamfara State.
“In line with this requirement, Globalcom is at this moment directed to shut down all sites n Zamafara state and any sites in neighbouring states that could provide telecommunications series in Zamfara State,” the statement partly reads.
