Amidst the #EndSARS protests across Nigeria, the Nigerian Army has threatened to move with force on peaceful protesters in the country as it also pledged its allegiance to President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lt General Yusuf Tukur Buratai in a statement signed by the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, described the #EndSARS protesters as trouble makers.

The army also said the Nigerian youths are anti-democratic forces and agents of disunity working against the country as it also re-assured law-abiding Nigerians of its commitment to the sustenance of peace, security and defence of democracy in the country.

Colonel Musa stressed that the Nigerian Army is ready to fully support the civil authority in whatever capacity to maintain law and order and deal with any situation decisively.

He said all officers and men of the Nigerian Army have been directed never to be distracted by anti-democratic forces and agents of disunity.

Thousands of Nigerian youths have taken to streets in different parts of the country to demand an end to police brutality by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad, SARS.

However, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu has announced the creation of a new unit in the Nigeria Police Force, Special Weapons And Tactics, SWAT which the protesters have also frowned at noting that creating a new police unit is not the same as ending police brutality.
