Nigerian Army has given update on the soldiers that were heading home to Imo State to get married but met an unfortunate end in the hands of a member of the movement it described as a Terrorist group.
The Army said their officers met an untimely death in move orchestrated by a member of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, while the unsuspecting couple were on their way to tie the knot.
They described the killing of two soldiers, that is Master Warrant Officer, MWO, Audu M. Linus (retired) and Private, Pte, Gloria Matthew by IPOB and its armed affiliate, Eastern Security Network, ESN, as barbaric and despicable.
As contained in a statement by Army spokesperson Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, said they were killed on transit to Imo state for their traditional wedding.
Recall everyevery.ng reported that a man (unknown), recorded during a telephone conversation, confidently admitted to killing some soldiers who were on their way to tie the knots in ImoState.
The unknown individual sounded really bold and gave reasons why he killed them as he blatantly described the gruesome murder as an of revenge.
On the recorded call, the man who had an eastern accent, said to the friend of the deceased soldier, a lady, that the Nigerian Army have been killing innocent civilians in the guise that they are looking for unknown gunmen.
He also killed two other persons that accompanied the couple to the location of their wedding that has been cut short.
