New Pump Price: NLC To Embark On Nationwide Protest

Share

As a way to kick against the new pump price and the hike in electricity tariff, the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has revealed plans to embark on a nationwide protest on Monday, September 28.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Tuesday, NLC President, Ayuba Wabba said the nationwide protest action was inevitable given the federal government’s refusal to reverse the increase in electricity and fuel prices.

Wabba noted that the privatization of the electricity sub-sector has not yielded any positive result, even though the federal government has injected 1.5 trillion naira within the last four years.

According to Wabba, the privatisation process has failed, adding that the electricity hike is a process of continued exploitation of Nigerians.

Wabba also said the increase in the price of Premium Motor Spirit would make life harder for the average Nigerian.

You will recall that the NLC had on September 16 given the Federal government two weeks ultimatum to reverse the increase in both the petrol price and the electricity tariff.
