The date for the 2020 West African Senior School Certificate Examination, WAEC has been announced by the Federal Government after the coronavirus pandemic passed serious threat to the possibility of its holding again this year.
According to the Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, the much-awaited examination will now be holding from August 4 to September 5, 2020.
Nwajiuba made this announcement during today’s edition of the briefing by the Presidential Task Force, PTF on COVID-19 in Abuja.
The Minister of State while urging parents, guardians, and caregivers to take note of the newly announced date stressed that the PTF took the decision last week.
“Last week, the PTF Chairman announced that school facilities will be available for those who want t go into revision classes. As soon as we conclude WAEC, we will take up the NABEB and NECO exams.”
According to him, the WAEC examination will be holding as scheduled so candidates and states who are willing to take part in it should make necessary preparations towards it.
Nwajiuba maintained that the government has done its homework by consulting its representatives at the WAEC office before arriving at the date.
He also added that the ministry of education has also planned to hold meetings with other stakeholders like the NCDC, Nigeria Union of Teachers, among many others.
For those who have not been able to register for NECO examination, he said there is still room for registration.
