NDLEA Operatives Arrest 80-Year Old Woman, Granddaughter In Akure (Photo)

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested an 80-year old grandmother identified as Mary Adebayo in Akure, the Ondo state capital for selling illicit drugs.

The anti-drug agency also arrested 19-year-old Funmilola Adebayo, the granddaughter of the suspect and two other ladies allegedly selling drugs like methamphetamine, cocaine, heroin, tramadol, swivel and skuchies.

According to the spokesperson of the agency, Femi Babafemi, operatives of the agency seized over 192 kilogrammes of cocaine and other psychoactive substances from the suspects after storming their residence on 2nd of May 2021.

Babafemi added that the NDLEA operatives arrested the 80-year-old suspect and her granddaughter. He further revealed that the NDLEA recovered 149kg Skuchies, 11grammes of cocaine, 17grammes of methamphetamine, 3grammes of heroin, 4.914kg of cannabis, 8grammes of Sativa and 49grammes of tramadol.

Other items recovered during the raid were two deep freezers and a TVS motorcycle.

Babafemi explained that the NDLEA operatives also arrested Tessy Mathew and recovered 33kilogrammes of skuchies after storming Rate Hotel, Care Street, in the Akure South Local government area where she was arrested.

He noted that the NDLEA carried out a follow-up operation leading to the arrest and recovery of skuchies-3kg and cannabis-7grammes from one Blessing Adesida in the Oshinle area, Akure South LGA.

Meanwhile, the acting Commander of the Agency in Ondo State, Callys Alumona, said other members of the two drug cartels had been placed on watch-listed.
