Share

The Niger Delta Development Commission has landed in a new mess over the palliative fund, which the Federal Government released.

Everyevery.ng gathered that the Senate Committee on Public petition, Ethics and Privileges issued a warrant of arrest on the management of the NDDC.

Chairman of the Committee, Senator Ayo Akinyelure, issued the order following the management’s failure to honour the Senate panel’s invitation to account for the N2.6 billion palliative fund.

Akinyelure said the Senate panel has been finding it challenging to have the NDDC management interrogated.

The petition was at the instance of the NDDC palliative Chairman, Mr Jackrich Sobomabo, who alleged that the NDDC management diverted the fund without his knowledge.

Sobomabo described the failure of the NDDC management to appear before the Senate panel as unfortunate.

However, he expressed optimism that the Senate would bring the perpetrators to book.

Meanwhile, the NDDC has revealed plans to train Niger Delta youths at the Innoson Kiara Academy, a Technical and Vocational Institution affiliated with the Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company.

The Director, Corporate Affairs, NDDC Ibitoye Abosede said the training is part of the commission’s skills acquisition programme.

According to him, the NDDC already had a partnership with the motor manufacturing company to train youths in different aspects of automobile maintenance.

Reacting, the Chief Executive Officer of Innoson Kiara Academy, Mr Endi Ezengwa, thanked the NDDC for considering the facilities at Innoson Motors for the training of Niger Delta youths.
