NCDC Warn Against Unverified Messages On Social Media

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, has warned Nigerians against unverified messages on social media.

The warning is due to different messages that are being circulated on various social media platforms as regards Coronavirus, COVID-19 outbreak in the country.

According to the agency, consumption of hot lemon, palm oil, ginger, or garlic does not protect anyone against the deadly virus.

In a post on its twitter handle, NCDC said, “Beware of unverified messages on social media! These DO NOT protect against COVID19: Consuming hot lemon, palm oil, ginger or garlic *Gargling with salt water *Drinking or spraying Dettol on your body.”  

It further urged Nigerians to adhere to the stay at home order “Take Responsibility, Wash Your Hands, Stay at home.

Nigeria has recorded 131 cases of people infected with the virus as at the time of filing this report.
