NCDC Reacts To Allegation Of Spending 1 Billion Naira On SMS

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC has distanced itself from the news making the rounds that the agency had spent the sum of one billion naira on messages to sensitize Nigerians about Coronavirus.

In a post on its Twitter handle, the agency tagged the news as false describing the SMS as one of its key response strategy.

NCDC reacts to the allegation with a tweet that reads “The headline claiming that NCDC has spent N1 billion on SMS to Nigerians is FALSE

While communication through SMS is a key part of our #COVID19 response strategy, this has been largely provided as in-kind support by @AirtelNigeria @MTNNG @GloWorld #TakeResponsibility.

The agency had earlier warned Nigerians against unverified social media messages which it described as plan of some individuals to frustrate the war against the Coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic in the country.
