Napoli head coach Luciano Spalletti has finally come out to reveal why Super Eagles forward Victor Osimhen is doing well. The Italian revealed that the secret to Osimhen’s progress thus far is his work ethic. Spalletti made this known after the Nigerian scored a brace in Thursday’s 4-0 win against Sampdoria.
The Partenopei maintained their perfect start to the Serie A season with a fifth win out of five. They dominated Marassi through Osimhen’s brace and a goal each from Fabian Ruiz and Piotr Zielinski. It was Osimhen’s third goal in the league, and he has now scored five goals in his last three games across all competitions.
Luciano Spalletti said: “We are happy with Osimhen because he works so hard in everything he does.” He also said: “It was a good result, but Sampdoria caused us problems in the first half. Where we deserve credit is for hanging in there, resisting the pressure and then finishing our chances well.”
“Ospina did really well in goal during the first half, as Sampdoria pounced on us from the start, but that left huge gaps behind their defence, and in those situations, Osimhen is devastating.” “When the game isn’t going well, you have to try to get something from the individuals, and that’s what we did.”
Napoli is top of the Italian Serie A table with a perfect record after five rounds, and Spalletti acknowledges the expectations are rising. Napoli head coach also said: “We are just a football team. We enjoy the extraordinary affection that this city has towards the club colours.”
“We must keep working calmly because the average for a Champions League place is 80-85 points, which means we are missing 72 points.” “Looking at it from that perspective, there’s a long way to go, and many other teams can get back into it.”
