The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC has expressed commitment to the global search for a solution to the coronavirus, COVID-19 pandemic.
NAFDAC Director-General, Professor Mojisola Adeyeye made this known during a live Television programme in Oyo state.
She disclosed that clinical trial treatment is ongoing in different parts of the country, adding that the clinical trials going on in Lagos involves Chloroquine and other therapeutics.
The DG also kicked against the use of foreign herbal medicine to cure the ravaging coronavirus in Nigeria as she expressed optimism about locally made medicine for the treatment of the virus.

She, however, said the agency was still waiting for samples of Madagascar COVID Organics which will go through safety studies and possibly clinical trial to ascertain its safety for use by patients.
While speaking on how to curb the rise in the production of fake drugs in the country, she recommended capital punishment for fake drugs manufacturers and dealers.
The NAFDAC boss believes this will serve as a deterrent to those she described as merchants of death and put an end to the unwholesome production and marketing of fake drugs.
She further explained that the prevalence rate of falsified products is about 10 per cent.
Professor Adeyeye also disclosed that in 2019, NAFDAC intercepted and destroyed fake drugs worth one point three trillion Naira.
