Nigerian Air Force, NAF, has attested to killing civilians in Buhari village at Yunusari Local Government Area, LGA, of Yobe State.
The air patrol accepted the accusations that its aircraft fired a couple of shots towards the locals in the various target areas.
NAF admitted that the it was the reason for the attack on the victims of their accidental discharges. This is coming after an earlier denial by the Air Force Spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet.
NAF Earlier Denies Killing Civilians
In a message on the issue, Gabkwet had earlier said, “This tweet is false in its entirety. The NAF last conducted a mission into Yobe State (Not Yunusari LGA) on 5 September 2021, and it was an armed recce. No bomb or missile was even expended. Thanks.”
But in a statement on Thursday, the Air Force spokesman admitted that some shots fired from a military aircraft came from NAF.
He said Boko Haram/ISWAP terrorists were the targets, attributing his initial denial that the aircraft did not carry bombs.
