In today’s transfer news, Manchester City has declared interest in Argentina and Barcelona 33-year-old forward Lionel Messi, the player who played under Pep Guardiola is now liked by the manager is likely to join the English Premier League side in the next transfer window. 

Chelsea is looking to sell six players to fund the transfer of Germany midfielder Kai Havertz, 21, who is valued at about £90m by his club Bayer Leverkusen. Arsenal and Napoli are both interested in Newcastle’s French 23-year-old winger Allan Saint-Maximin, Arsenal is also set to open talks with their France forward Alexandre Lacazette, 29, over a new deal. 

Manchester United is also in the transfer news, they made a mistake not signing Norway forward Erling Braut Haaland, 19, before he moved to Borussia Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg according to former United player Paul Scholes. Manchester United’s Spain midfielder Juan Mata, 32, is interested in a move to Fenerbahce in the summer. Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti says he will not sell his star players, with France defender Lucas Digne, 26, Brazil forward Richarlison, 23, and English defender Mason Holgate, 23, linked with summer move away from Goodison Park. 

Paris St-Germain is also in the transfer news and they are looking at a move for Arsenal and Spain right-back Hector Bellerin, 25, with Juventus and Bayern Munich also interested. Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcantara, 29, is desperate for a move to the Premier League, with Liverpool eyeing a £32m move for the Spain international. However, Bayern boss Hansi Flick says he is doing his best to convince Alcantara to stay in Bavaria. 

Sevilla and Atletico Madrid are weighing up offers for Barcelona and Croatia midfielder Ivan Rakitic, 32, who is set to leave the Nou Camp this summer. Barcelona has been handed a blow in their bid to appoint Xavi as their next manager after their former midfielder signed a new deal with Qatari side Al-Sadd. 

Napoli is interested in signing Lille’s 21-year-old Nigerian goalscoring machine Victor Osimhen. Osimhen’s arrival at Napoli could hasten the departure of Poland international Arkadiusz Milik, 26, with Tottenham and Juventus are eager to sign the forward. Victor Osimhem is however afraid of a move to Italy because of racism.
