Officials of the Federal Ministry of Finance has come out to put clarity on reports circulating the social media space regarding a sudden fire outbreak burning down the finance headquarters in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja.
On the official Twitter handle of the Ministry @FinMinNigeria, the message saying that the building is not inflames was tweeted a few minutes ago to help the public understand the exact situation at the premises.
The tweet reads, “Finance HQ is not on fire as reported on social media. Rather, there was an incident on the corridor in the basement involving an isolated battery Pack (photo inset). It was quickly put out by the security personnel on duty.”
Meanwhile, it was earlier reported the Ministry was inflames and some videos to back this claim up could be seen on social media where thick black smoke was coming out of the structure.
However, the batteries reported having been inflames belong to an inverter used to power the building whenever there’s a total blackout by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC.
