Ministry of Defence Boosts Army’s Confidence

The Ministry of Defence has boosted the confidence of the Nigerian Army. The Ministry assured the Army of adequate support of defeating terrorism and other security challenges in Nigeria.

According to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Dr Musa Istifanus, the Ministry was determined to give its maximum support to the Nigerian Army.

Istifanus, who gave the assurance during a courtesy call on the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, noted that the new Army Chief started on a good note by recapturing Marte and Dikwa from the terrorists.

He further described Attahiru’s appointment as a round peg in a round hole.

However, Attahiru reassured the permanent Secretary of the Nigerian Army’s resolve to defeat Boko Haram. He said the Nigerian Army would continue to discharge its constitutional roles in line with his corporate vision.

The Army Boss added that his leadership would provide effective strategic and operational leadership to enhance the military’s operations.

According to the Director, Army Public Relations, Mohammed Yerima, the event’s highpoints include exchanging souvenirs and group photographs.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor, has advocated for more collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Defence and Defence Headquarters.

Irabor said the collaboration is to enable the Armed Forces of Nigeria to respond proactively and promptly to security challenges in tandem with the Commander-in- Chief’s directives.
