Barcelona new signing player Memphis Depay had agreed to take a 30 per cent pay cut which was not part of the agreement with Barcelona when he was signed. It was gathered that the Liga giants need to cut costs to operate under a salary cap, so the player has decided to be the first to do so.

The Netherlands international forward is among new players that just joined the club alongside Sergio Aguero, Eric Garcia and Emerson Royal. However, Deals are yet to be officially completed as the Blaugrana need to free up funds to get fresh faces on board and keep their books balanced.

The 27-year-old former Manchester United player moved to Barcelona after a consistent attempt by the club’s head coach to bring him. Memphis Depay has made no secret that joining Barcelona is a dream come true for him, and with the manager, Ronald Koeman, he feels he is a bonus for him.

An offer worth €7 million a year was initially put to the frontman, with several performance-related variables included. However, it is now understood that a modified proposal is being put in place with Memphis Depay, as the club cannot offer any more than €5m to their new players.
