A man with a rechargeable heart has been trending on social media space after pictures of him surfaced with Nigerians making divergent remarks.
The emotional story of Andrew Jones was recently shared on Instagram, shedding light on how he lost his heart to a dangerous virus.
According to source, the tissue surrounding his heart was damaged by this unknown virus, leaving him with no option other than to get a heart transplant.
Jones, a fitness model, did not know what was going wrong with his heart but only had symptoms close to that of pneumonia. He also had complaints about fatigue and short breathe during work-out.
After he was diagnosed with cardiomyopathy, he spent about 4 months at the Intensive care unit, after which he was given an artificial heart he carried in a bag for about 3 years while hoping for a permanent heart transplant.
For him to be able to use his rechargeable heart, he had to always carry it in a bag seen with him at all times.
Luckily for Jones, from Connecticut in the US, he got a matching donor in 2018 and had a successful transplant.
