Medical personnel in Bauchi state and inmates in the state’s correctional facility have reportedly tested positive to COVID-19.
The executive chairman of the Bauchi state primary healthcare development agency (PASPHCDA), Dr Rilwanu Mohammed revealed this in an interview with newsmen in Bauchi state this Saturday.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed disclosed that a total of 51 medical personnel in the state had tested positive to COVID-19 and that one of the medical personnel has died in service of the state in the fight against COVID-19.
He also pointed out that a total of 17 inmates have also tested positive, with an isolation centre set up in the prison for them to isolate and recover to avoid them escaping from detention, 14 of these inmates are presently inside the isolation centre that was set up.
Dr Rilwanu Mohammed who is also the Bauchi state contact tracing committee chairman has also implored the medical personnel in the state to remain vigilant and ensure the use of the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) always.
The doctor said the government of Bauchi state has engaged in a massive search in communities, actively taking samples from members of the community to curb the spread of COVID-19 further in the state.
Bauchi State currently has a total of 402 confirmed cases as at the last report of the NCDC on Friday 12th June with 162 of those still on admission, 230 fully recovered and discharged and a further 10 dead from the COVID-19 pandemic.
