Marco Asensio Scores Three as Real Goes Top

Marco Asensio scored a superb hat-trick to his side Real Madrid went back to the top of the Spanish La Liga with an emphatic victory over Mallorca at the Bernabeu. The former Mallorca player scored twice in five first-half minutes on either side of Lee Kang-in’s well-taken response for the visitors.

The Spaniard found the bottom corner to make it 4-1 ten minutes after half-time. Real Madrid skipper Karim Benzema also recorded his name in the score sheet as he scored two in the game. Benzema opened the scoring after three minutes and added a late fifth for Real Madrid before Isco completed a 6-1 rout with six minutes remaining.

Marco Asensio, who left Mallorca to join Real Madrid in 2015, did not celebrate any of the games he scored against his former side. Benzema has now scored eight goals and seven assists in La Liga this season. Real Madrid is looking to cling to one trophy at least this season after going without any trophy last season.
