Following attacks on some of the Boko Haram hideouts’ in the Sambisa forest, many abducted Chibok girls have reportedly escaped from their abductors.
Residents of Chibok local government received the information with joy after they were briefed that many of the girls have escaped from the forest.
Speaking, a parent, Malam Madu, said the Chibok community is pleased with the report adding that the girls are currently with the security operatives.
Madu noted that the number is yet to be ascertained. According to him, many other parents and relatives are coming from Chibok with hopes of meeting their daughters.
Chibok Girls Escape From Sambisa
Another source revealed that one Halima Ali said to have been married to a Boko Haram commander is among the escapees.
Speaking on their escape reports, the Secretary, Chibok Parents Association, Lawal Zannah, said that some of the girls had escaped.
However, government officials in Maiduguri said they also heard rumour of the Chibok girls’ escape but are yet to ascertain the reports’ authenticity.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army is yet to confirm the attack allegedly lunched on Sambisa forest.
You will recall that 219 Chibok girls were abducted from the Government Girls Secondary School in Chibok local government area, Borno State.
However, 107 have returned, 82 of them through negotiation, while 112 were said to have remained in captivity.
