Manu Garba and his boys had a good time in the tournament in Canada until early this morning. They played against the Young Lions of Netherland and lost by 3-1, the first goal came in the first four minutes of the game. The golden eaglets of Nigeria equalized the in the 14th minute before Sontje Hensen scored his brace for the day two minutes after Nigeria equalized.

Sontje Hensen completed his hat-trick of the day as he added another goal making it 3-1. Although the Golden Eaglets of Nigeria had most of the chances and won possession and the game, they lost the match which is the most important. The Golden Eaglets failed to repeat what Victor Osimhen and Samuel Chukwueze’s set did in Chile in 2015. Manu Garba never got the chance to play in the quarter-finals, the boys have come out to apologize to Nigerians for their disappointing outing.

What is there to learn from the tournament?

The Nigerian Golden Eaglets have not been eliminated from the FIFA U17 in the round of 16 for a long time now, the team record one of the worst outings in the FIFA U17 outing in Nigeria. From the very first game of the tournament Manu Garba’s boys never kept a clean sheet. They conceded nine goals and scored nine goals in four matches. And most of the goals were errors from the defense line.

The Golden Eaglet of Nigeria used just three men defense against the Netherland youth team last night. They were able to attack well but losing the ball opens them up. Any ball that gets past the midfield was not easily dealt with by the defense. Manu Garba’s selections were very questionable and wrong. The players play more of an individual game instead of playing as a team.

Nigerians Reactions

Football lovers in Nigeria have come out to blast Manu Garba and his boys saying: “they are the worst set of the U17 team Nigeria has ever produced”. “The team was creating chances without scoring and they were no cohesion in the team at all”. “Manu Garba’s boys lacked co-ordination in the defense line”.

Manu Garba and the Golden Eaglets blamed the VAR for their downfall but nobody wants to hear that. The team will depart Brazil for Nigeria today and Nigerians are eager to see Manu Garba and his team. As they prepare questions for the team.
