Manchester United Trying “Not To Hard” To Get Out Of The Gutter

What can anyone say about Manchester United these days? The club has been going to through some rough patches lately. The main argument of course is that, the most valuable football club on the planet should be putting in some spectacular displays week-in and week-out. But the opposite has been the case. Since the retirement of Alex Ferguson, United has experienced its fair share of premier league mediocrity – only gunning for a top four finish this season.

Recently, United have lost 7 games in 9 since their Champions League victory at Paris Saint-Germaine. At first, it seemed as if the coaching-styles were more of the problem with United hiring 5 permanent managers so far since Ferguson left. But now more than ever, it looks pretty clear that the players are just not up to the stuff United needs.

After the win at PSG, the hopes of United fans across the world were lifted. United looked as though they could do it with Ole Gunnar Solksjaer. They looked as though they could finish top four and go all the way in the Champions League. However, with the results from their last three games, United may just do well to start the preseason training for next season’s Europa League nights.

United was kicked out of the Champions League tournament with an aggregate 4-0 defeat to Barcelona, followed by two consecutive premier league defeats by Everton (4-0) and Manchester City (2-0). So far, United fans have accused the club’s players of not giving each game their absolute best – that United players need to learn to play for the batch and not for wages.

With these kind of results the club will be looking to make a considerable change to the squad next season. According to major football sites, about eight United players have been tipped to leave Manchester United this summer.

Solskjaer looks to rebuild and rejuvenate his squad at Old Trafford to close the gap on rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. In a recent interview, he stated quite explicitly that he will be a successful manager at Old Trafford and some of his current players will not be part of that successful squad.

Will United Retain Its Key Players?

United may also face a battle to retain the services of key players. Ander Herrera is approaching the end of his contract and the Spaniard is tipped to leave Old Trafford with PSG a possible destination.

Alexis Sanchez is also rumoured to leave United this summer, after struggling to find consistency since his arrival from Arsenal in January 2018.

Also Juan Mata, another player approaching the end of his contract, is tipped for an exit. Juan Mata expecially has had less and less impact with each game he plays.

In all, the whole Manchester United squad looks like they are suffering from a fitness issue. They are obviously not the hardest working team in the league as can be observed in the way they lose possession so easily and can’t track back to stop their opponents from attacking.

Here is a list of players rumored to leave Old Trafford:
Ander Herrera, Alexis Sanchez, Juan Mata, Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba, David De Gea, Matteo Darmian and maybe a few others who knows.
