Manchester City did havoc in their Uefa Champions League game against Portuguese top side Sporting Lisbon. The English Premier League defending champions equalled Liverpool’s Champions League knockout record after their 5-0 win against Sporting Lisbon in the first leg round of 16 ties.
Manchester City raced to a 4-0 first-half lead thanks to goals from Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and a brace Bernardo Silva. Then in the second half of the game England international Raheem Sterling completes the rout by adding the fifth and last goal of the encounter.
The result became the second biggest away win by an English club in the Champions League knock-out stages. Liverpool first achieved the feat on 14th February 2018 when they also hammered Porto 0-5. Man City made the record to become the second English Premier League side to score five unreeled goals in the Uefa Champions League.
