A man known as Chinedu Anthony has been remanded by the Magistrate Court for caging 5-year-old son in Port Harcourt.
The court came to this decision after he allegedly tried to murder his 5-year-old son alongside his lover.
His lover, Chinwendu Nwokoike was also sent to prison for being an accomplice to the alleged crime.
According to the reports, Anthony and his partner were arrested for an attempt to murder the little boy by caging him.
The child was locked up in a cage for more than a week in their Port Harcourt residence and was denied food and water.
Luckily, a neighbour alerted a lawyer who then contacted the Federation of International Women Lawyers(FIDA) leading to their arrest.
Nnenna Igbokwe, FIDA Vice President in Rivers spoke on the case of the man caging 5-year-old son .
She said,
“The victim was locked-up in a cage for more than a week to the extent that neighbours were throwing food to him through the cage.
“We are against the ordeal the little boy passed through.”
“Parent and guardians must respect the dignity of their children to avoid such ill-mannered treatment”.
The Magistrate, Nnenna Ezeobuzuor declined jurisdiction over the case and advised that it be transferred to the DPP.
