Man gets 12 months imprisonment for stealing mould blocks

A 40-year-old man identified as Saheed Isola has been sentenced by the Osogbo Magistrate Court to serve 12 months in prison for stealing block mould.

ASP Abiodun Fagboyibo, Police prosecutor reported that Saheed stole the building material at about 5 am of October 14, 2020, in Lameco area of Osogbo, Osun state. This was the same day of his conviction.

According to the prosecutor, the convict entered the store of one Moshood Ishola and made away with one 9 inch block mould and one 6 inch block mould both valued at N40,000 and N30,000 respectively making a total of N70,000.

The court charged Saheed Isola with crimes that were prohibited and punishable under Section 413 of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol ll Law of Osun State 2020. The convict who had no defence attorney pleaded guilty to the charges levelled against him and by so doing made himself culpable to the act.

Before this case, Mr Isola had been convicted for stealing sometime in 2019 and was sentenced to community service and when he was asked he confirmed that he was indeed the one who committed those crimes.

After listening to all the facts presented by the police, Opeyemi Badmus, the presiding magistrate convicted and sentenced the culprit to 12 months in prison without fine.
