Chocolate city
Nigerian ace rapper, Jude Abaga aka M.I has quit Chocolate city, a music label he has been associated with for 13 years. The Jos-born rapper who served as the CEO of Chocolate City from June 2015 to 2019 has finally left to floats his own record label he tagged ‘Incredible Music’ by dropping a new Ep titled ‘Judah’.
M.I Abaga along with Audu Maikori made Chocolate City one of the best music label in this part of the world. M.I was regarded as the best rapper from Africa in the years spent with Chocolate City formerly called Choc Boys Nation (CBN).
The rapper, who has been compared with the likes Jay Z and Kanye West recorded great success as a Chocolate City artist and chairman. M.I Abaga who returned to Nigeria from the United States shook the Nigerian entertainment industry when he released the song ‘’Crowd Mentality’’ in 2006. In his 13 years (2007-2020) with Chocolate City, M.I had nine successful musical projects (5 studio albums, 3 Eps and 1 playlist).
M.I studio album with Chocolate City include Talk About It (2008), MI 2: The Movie (2010), The Chairman (2014), The Indestructible Choc Boi Nation (2015), and A Study on Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl (2018). Mixtapes include Illegal Music (2009), Illegal Music 2 (2012), and Illegal Music 3: The Finale (2016). His only playlist, ‘Rendezvous’ was released shortly after the 2018 studio album, A Study on Self Worth: Yxng Dxnzl was also released.
In his time with the music label, he was instrumental to the grooming and success of other artists such as Ice Prince Zamani, Jesse Jagz, Brymo, Loose Kaynon, Koker, and so on. He won many awards as a Chocolate City artist among which is the Best Hip Hop and Best New Act at the 2009 MTV Africa Music Awards. He was also nominated in the Best International Act category at the BET Awards 2010. He also have many Nigerian entertainment awards to his credit.
M.I Abaga broke the news of his exit from Chocolate City on his Instagram page with a video post. In a 53 seconds video, he dropped his goodbye message in style by introducing his own music label with a new Ep.
In the video caption, M.I wrote ‘’There is a lot of truth in my new EP the ‘’Judah EP’’ I had a dream that CBN would be the greatest group the world had ever seen…it was on me… today I announce my decision to finally let go and move on to something new! Thank you for your support and love for 13 years…and if your still with me!! Let’s go…’’
The new Ep has been released on the 6th of March 2o2o making it the debut project coming from his new music label; Incredible Music. The new Judah EP which consists of 8 songs is another masterpiece from M.I Abaga. If you need to know about his time with Chocolate City then you have to listen to this one.
Many of his fans have been gushing about this new project. One of the hit tracks is ‘The Blood’ which revealed some truths as M.I Abaga has stated earlier. ‘The Trinity’ featuring AQ is another of the masterpiece in this new Ep. Other tracks in the Judah Ep include ‘The Parable’, ‘The Lion’, ‘The Commandment’ feat. Buckyraw, ‘The Sacrifice’ feat. Nawe, and ‘The Warrior’ feat. Kauna.
If you need some heavy bars, then M.I Abaga has much served it right to you in this new Ep from his from his new imprint. We just have to wish M.I more success in his career.
