Lukaku’s Poor Performance Troubles Tuchel

Share

Following the disappointing record sent by Romelu Lukaku in their 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, fans are still criticizing the former Inter Milan player. The Belgium international made just six touches with the ball from open play (seven including the kick-off) during the entire game at Selhurst Park breaking the record for the fewest involvements in a single Premier League match for a player who has completed the full game.

Romelu Lukaku’s Unwanted Record Causes Uprising

Romelu Lukaku only touched the ball seven times against Crystal Palace on Saturday and it wasn’t just the fact he failed to register a single shot or that he completed only four successful passes the entire game. It was his demeanour that should worry Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel.

There were moments against Palace when the Belgian looked unwilling to put in the hard yards. He should have done more than to get on the ball the Lukaku that joined Chelsea for a record fee of £97.5million. So it begs the question: what’s eating away at the 28-year-old?

The striker is yet to register a goal in the English Premier League since December. The performance of the player has raised concerns, especially from the coach. If the player form does not improve, Chelsea will be forced to sign a new striker with Erling Haaland, Kylian Mbappe and Harry Kane all ready to join a club side.
