Lockdown easing in Nigeria starts today, May 4, and there are two Nigerians you should not meet as you go out today.
While the second fourteen days extension that President Muhammadu Buhari placed on the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja, Lagos and gun State was going to an end, a lot of Nigerians started calling for an end to the lockdown, giving hunger, poverty and economic woes as reasons.
To this end, President Buhari addressed Nigerians and notified of ease to the lockdown, which is to begin on Monday, May 4 but stating some restrictions to the development.
So many people jumped for joy after hearing this news, while many wondered why the president would take such decision when the curve on the country’s confirmed Coronavirus cases has not been straightened.
Noe minding the fact that there are over 2,000 confirmed cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria, many are waiting to jump out of their home on May 4.
They can’t wait to open their businesses again, go visiting or at least drive around town.
No matter what your plans are from May 4 when the lockdown easing will take effect, there are two Nigerians you should not pray to meet.
The first type of Nigerian you should not meet on May 4 and even beyond is that Nigerians who have the deadly Coronavirus but does not know.
Such a person has already gotten the virus somehow and somewhere but does not know, so on May 4 he jumps out because of the lockdown easing and starts mixing up with everyone.
This person sees every other person as a victim of Coronavirus but has no idea yet that he is a treat to his society.
Lockdown has been eased so he has missed his normal life and he greets hugs, exchange naira notes, without knowing the damage he is doing to each of his contacts.
Trust me; you don’t want to meet this type of person.
As you go out from May 4 and enjoy the easing of the lockdown, watch out for this second type of Nigerian, you should not meet.
This is a victim of Coronavirus who is aware of his or her status but is on the run looking for a cure without being responsible enough to avoid unnecessary contact with others.
This person might not be bold enough to tell people of the state of things; he does not even have the well without to get a private car, so he goes around in public transport.
He does not believe in the care given at the isolation centres, so he turns himself to a moving train of pandemic sharing unwanted and solicited gift.
As you go out, rejoicing for your liberty from the lockdown, remember that these types of persons are also out mingling.
Remember that watching of hands, social distancing, the appropriate wearing of nose mask among other precautionary measures are important.
Do not turn your liberty to a trap.
