Local Government in Kogi on Lockdown For COVID-19 Cases

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has instructed a complete lockdown in two local governments in Kogi State. Despite all the controversies surrounding the index case of coronavirus in Kogi State, the governor has ordered a complete lockdown in Kabba-Bunu Local Government with effect from midnight. He instructed that during the lockdown, house to house visitations will be prohibited as well as street movement. Everyone is expected to stay indoors for the duration of the two weeks.

Governor Yahaya Bello assured the residents of that local government that palliatives will be shared accordingly during the period of the lockdown. He also revealed that the team will continue with the contact tracing intensively.

The governor ordered health workers who might have been in contact with the index cases to quickly go into isolation with immediate effect. All security outfits in the state will take part in enforcing the lockdown.

Kogi State Governor has been in disagreement with the Federal Government and the NCDC over his claims that the state is coronavirus free. Well, with the two confirmed cases in Lokoja, hopefully, this lockdown will ensure there is no more coronavirus transmission in the state.
