Following the announcement of the release of the English Premier League fixtures, many football fans have been commenting on the two most informed Premier League teams which are Liverpool and Manchester City. Fans have been talking about their newest signings and comparing them.

Manchester City announced the signing of Argentine striker Alvarez from the Argentine side River Plate last season even though the player had to finish their league before coming to the English Premier League.

Alvarez

The star player signed a long-time contract with the Premier League defending champions. The arrival of the player who scored six goals in their 8-1 win in their league has made many fans say just maybe the Champions League dream for Manchester City is finally here.

Liverpool’s Nunez Likened to Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku

Liverpool is not sleeping as well, as they have also signed Fabio Calhvaho from Fulham to boost their midfield. The two teams who could not decide the champions of the 2021/22 Premier League until the very last day of the league seem to have continued their contest in the transfer market in preparation for the 2022/23 season.

Erling Haaland

The shocker of all the signings is the signing of soccer goal machine Erling Haaland. The Norwegian international joined the club from the German top side Dortmund. Manchester City have failed to lift the Champions League trophy with their best chance coming two seasons ago when they played an all-English Premier League Champions League with Chelsea.

They lost the game to the Blues 1-0, they were knocked out of the same tournament in the semi-final last season after they lost to the Spanish top side which later won the title Real Madrid. Pep Guardiola is not willing to take a chance again as he has played a whole season without a top striker, after the exit of Sergio Aguero they played without a striker, throughout the 2021/22 season a recognized striker.

The signing of Haaland will improve their chance of winning the Champions League which is the major trophy the head coach is aiming for right now. in response Liverpool signed Uruguayan forward Darwin Nunez from the Portuguese top side Benfica. The striker signed a long-term contract with the Reds after finalising personal terms and completing a medical at the AXA Training Centre.

Liverpool unveils Darwin Nunez

The good thing about the two clubs’ competition is the fact that the four players they signed are all young players. They are between the ages of 19 to 22, a whole lot is expected from the players as they look forward to an exciting Premier League season. Nunez scored 48 goals from his 85 appearances in all competitions for Benfica last season. The 22-year-old has also earned 11 senior caps for Uruguay to date, after making an international debut in October 2019.

Haaland on the other end is a master goal scorer and a known goal machine that has been proven in both his country and his club side. Many have come out to say comparing Nunez to Haaland will be very wrong because the former is better than the latter. And for Alverez, it is certain Manchester City is fully prepared for Champions League glory.

They now have two natural strikers to work with. An analysis was done on Nunez and it was gathered that the attacker may be a replica of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku because of his first-time touch. Nunez has a bad first-time touch which will not be good seeing that he will be facing all calibre of defenders.

Fabio Calhvaho

It is however believed that Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp is a good tactician who will be help the striker perfect on that part of his football. For Fabio Calhavaho, many doubt if the player will pick up on time like every other Klopp signing did in Liverpool. At the end of everything, the question now is will Liverpool and Manchester City still dominate the English Premier League or will Chelsea with their new management join in the party.

Manchester United is also not left out as they now have a new manager and one club to also look out for will Newcastle United who are the new money power of football as Jurgen Klopp puts it because of their new ownership
