If you don’t know what the fuss is all about in the footballing world yet then you will be interested to know that Liverpool FC is the new Champion of Europe after yesterday’s 2:0 win over Tottenham Hotspur.

All around despite the rivalry among English clubs, most English clubs would agree that it feels good to have the trophy at home. To that effect, Liverpool Manager Jürgen Klopp has come out to say that Manchester City boss was one of the first people to congratulate him on his victory shortly after.

Goals from Mohammed Salah and Divorck Origi was enough to seal the deal for the Reds. Liverpool was blessed with a penalty just 2 minute into the game and Salah couldn’t have missed such a chance for anything. Following that, a late Divock Origi strike secured the trophy for the sixth time in Liverpool’s history.

More importantly, this trophy is Klopp’s first as a Liverpool Manager as he hopes to end the trophy-less spell that the club has been going through for years. Last year Liverpool came so close when they got to Champions League Final only to be beaten 3:1 by Real Madrid in Kiev. With this trophy now, those painful memories are sure to be a thing of the past.

Liverpool has been in fine form throughout the season coming so close to winning the Premier League but fell short behind current Champions Manchester City by only one point. However, their Champioms League title now closes their season on a successful note.

Unfortunately, City was kicked out of the Champions League by Tottenham Hotspurs via a fine comeback that left City shocked at Etihad. But City ended their season by being the first club to win the domestic treble.

Shortly after the game Klopp revealed that he had received a call from City boss, Pep, to congratulate him on his Champions League victory. Interestingly, it didn’t just stop there, Pep also pledged to go head-to-head with Liverpool for trophies next season.

A second ago I spoke to Pep Guardiola on the phone. Our head physio [Lee Nobes] worked for Manchester City at the start of the year but he wanted to win the Champions League… no, it’s a joke.

What an exciting close to the season with Tottenham Hotspur keeping to their tradition of coming so close but never making it past the line.
