Liverpool who thrashed Manchester United 7-0 on Sunday were shocked with a supprise lose against struggling side Bournemouth. The Merseyside side conceded the goal in the first 26 minute of the game when Billing tapped in a cross from Dango.
Liverpool were punished for poor defending when the unmarked Philip Billing struck from eight yards for his sixth Premier League goal of the season after fine work by Dango Ouattara.
Liverpool trying to come back had Virgil van Dijk header cleared off the line and substitute Diogo Jota was denied by Neto’s fine save before Liverpool won a penalty after the Portugal forward’s header was handled by Adam Smith.
The penalty was awarded but Mohamed Salah’s glaring penalty miss helped ensure Bournemouth climbed out of the relegation zone with the win.
Apparently, throughout this season any club that manages to beat Manchester United ends up been beaten in their next game. It happens with Arsenal and now is Liverpool. Also, the last time they won 9-0 they lost their next game 1-0 to Crystal Palace.
Liverpool have made strides in recent weeks but this lose is major step backwards for them as they have a mountainous task to stay in the Champions League when they go to European champions Real Madrid on Wednesday, looking to claw back a 5-2 deficit.
After the Champions Leag game they still have a back-to-back away games at Manchester City (1 April) and Chelsea (4 April) when they return, followed by a home match with leaders Arsenal (9 April).
