Darwin Nunez came off the bench to score one and gave and as Liverpool struggled to share points with English Premier League newcomers Fulham. The Reds could not successfully use the blueprint of the North London clubs, Arsenal and Tottenham.
Arsenal who opened the league won 2-0 yesterday while Tottenham beat Southampton 4-1.
Fulham took the lead after Mitrovic opened the scoring for the home side. Nunez then marked his Premier League debut by equalizing with a close-range flick before Fulham restored the lead from the penalty spot after Mitrovic was fouled by Virgil van Dijk.
Mitrovic picked himself up to beat Alisson from the spot before Mohamed Salah equalized from close range after a pass by Nunez, a £64m signing from Benfica.
Fulham’s previous Premier League win was against Liverpool on 7 March 2021 but, on that occasion, they went to relegation even with the win. It is however now a good way to announce themselves to the league.
Their aim this season is to establish themselves in the esteemed company and, while there is a long road ahead, this was a highly encouraging start.
