Lekki Shooting: Amnesty International Raises Alarm

A human rights organization, Amnesty International has raised an alarm over threats to the lives of its staff.

The organisation said the threats were issued through faceless organizations.

Amnesty International described the threats as efforts to smear the organization.

However, the organization vowed to continually raise its voice against injustice.

Also, the organization said it will continue to call for the investigation of human rights violations.

The human rights abuses listed by the organization include rape, torture, arbitrary detentions and unlawful killings.

Meanwhile, the organization stressed that it is not affiliated to any government, ideology, political or religious.

According to a statement issued by the Organization, every person whose rights are violated is entitled to an effective remedy.

It added that the Nigerian government owe a legal duty to ensure the protection of lives and property in the country.
